A guide to Nationstates Empty
PostSubject: A guide to Nationstates   A guide to Nationstates EmptyTue Sep 22, 2009 3:19 pm

Welcome to Royal Federation of Nations

If you are a new member feel free to look at the information below, it should give you a good understanding of Nationstates in general, be aware that this is under construction and things may be missing, if unsure about things read the One Stop Shop Rules, WA Rules in the Jolt Forum or the FAQ Rules on the Nationstates site.

How do you use this forum?

Go to the help section on the top of the forum screen.

Nation Information

Here is the Nationstates control panel; you should explore its features on your Nationstates Page:

What are Issues?

Issues are events that your nations government has to decide what to do about or ignore, but be careful as they affect your Economy, Civil Rights and Political Freedoms of your nation.

A guide to Nationstates Issues

Each issue shows different views of people in your nation, usually they represent people that want to destroy or develop the economy, give the people better Civil rights or restrict their civil rights e.g. give your people a 100% tax rate, get rid of Political freedoms by causing a dictatorship or develop a democracy.

Can I control how many issues I get each day?

Your nation should have a settings panel to change this; good advice would be to read the FAQ information for Nationstates.

What is the regional notice board and what can be done on it?

You can leave a message for other nations in the region to see or converse with other nations, but do not do too much of this e.g. Spamming the message board with 100s of messages each day.

Regional Influence

One thing you will notice first in Nationstates is your regional influence, your level of influence is determined by your nation size, how long it has been in the region and it’s amount of Endorsements (Votes to support your nation or other nations).

Here are the Regional Influence Rankings in the game from Highest influence to lowest:

Hermit (This is the highest level of Regional Influence in the game)
Hegemony
Dominator
Superpower
Power
Powerbroker
Eminence Grise
Enforcer
Dealmaker
Instigator
Contender
Negotiator
Auxiliary
Ambassador
Diplomat
Envoy
Duckspeaker
Handshaker
Truckler
Vassal
Minnow (You should start about here)

Telegrams

A guide to Nationstates Telegrams

You should also notice the Telegram section on the left of your Nationstates Nation screen; below you can see what you can do with Telegrams:

You can send messages to any nation in the game, but be careful not to put offensive material in them because the site Moderators could give you a warning or possibly even delete your nation depending on how offensive it is. If you want to offend someone, it is best to do it in the Royal Federation of Nations forum.

Also when recruiting with telegrams remember that you can only send 1 telegram to each region but the Moderators do not enforce this as yet and I have gone against this rule by accident several times and not had problems, so I suppose it is ok.

World Asembly

You should also notice the World Assembly section on the left of your Nationstates Nation screen; below you can see what you can do in the World Assembly :

You can vote for Resolutions, but only Regional Delegates can vote for proposed Resolutions becoming Resolutions, you should read the WA Rules or one stop shop

You can propose new laws or try to repeal laws once you have 2 Endorsements from other nations, you should look at the WA

But Beware, if you get 2 telegram warnings from the Moderation Team it is a good idea to not propose or repeal any laws because once you get 3 telegram warnings you nation is banned from the World Assembly for good.

What is the regional notice board and what can be done on it?

How in-active can you be?

Once you have been in-active for 30 days your nation is deleted. But I prefer to say 28 because with timezones it may be deleted on the 29th day, however if you change your nation to vacation mode on your nation settings the amount you can be inactive becomes 60 days.

What is the dossier?

It makes it easier as you can link to nations quickly and do not have to search for them.
